Our club partners with the library to maintain this children’s garden that opened in 2000 in honor of Millie Lintner, a longtime library supporter. Through generous community donations, this dream came true and continues to provide a unique environment to relax and enjoy nature.
Millie’s Garden, located in the back of the library and viewable from large picture windows within the youth department, is certified as a Wildlife Habitat and Monarch Way Station. This is a walkable garden and a pleasant setting for programs and quiet contemplation. The 7 garden beds feature a mix of perennials, annuals, woody ornamentals and garden art. Millie’s Garden also hosts the annual summer Gnome Scavenger Hunt (game flyers can be picked up inside the library).
We were thrilled that this garden was a stop on the LACASA Garden Tour in 2019.
Special features of Millie’s Garden have been donated and include: The Reading House, “Art” the tiger, Peace Pole Bird House and commemorative pathway. This garden is on the north side of Brighton District Library, located at 100 Library Drive in Brighton
